This policy explains the information ScrollScripture handles across the iOS app and scrollscripture.life, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

1 · SCOPE

Where this policy applies

This policy applies to the ScrollScripture iOS app, the website at scrollscripture.life, and related support communications. It does not control the privacy practices of another app or website you choose when sharing a post or following an external link.

2 · INFORMATION WE HANDLE

Information depends on how you use ScrollScripture

Account information

If you create an account, we process your email address, an internal user identifier, verification state, and authentication records. Passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito and are not visible to ScrollScripture administrators.

Likes and saved posts

When signed in, the post identifiers you like or save are associated with your account so they can sync across supported devices. Public aggregate counts may remain after an account is deleted, but your personal interaction records are removed.

Notification registration

If you allow notifications, we process a random installation identifier, an APNs device token, a token fingerprint, notification status, app version, iOS version, and whether the build uses Apple's development or production notification environment. The raw APNs token is stored by Amazon SNS rather than in the ScrollScripture database.

Usage and device analytics

Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics may process an app-instance or browser identifier, device and app information, approximate location derived from network information, and interactions such as opening a screen or post, completing content, sharing, and opening a notification. We do not send Scripture text, reflection text, your email address, or your ScrollScripture account ID as custom analytics parameters.

Technical and security information

Our hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, timestamps, request metadata, error information, and service logs to deliver, secure, diagnose, and prevent abuse of the service.

Support communications

If you contact support, we receive the address you use and the information you choose to include. Please do not send passwords, verification codes, APNs tokens, or other secrets.

3 · INFORMATION WE DO NOT SEEK

Scripture reading does not require a profile

We do not ask for your real name, precise location, contacts, payment information, health information, or personal prayer and reflection responses. Photo-library permission is used only when you choose to save a generated share image; ScrollScripture does not upload your photo library.

4 · HOW INFORMATION IS USED

To operate and improve the service

Deliver Scripture posts, journeys, context, and localized content.
Create and secure accounts and synchronize likes and saved posts.
Register devices and deliver requested publication notifications.
Measure aggregate use, including active readers and notification opens.
Diagnose failures, protect the service, and prevent misuse.
Respond to support, privacy, accessibility, and content-rights requests.

5 · SERVICE PROVIDERS AND DISCLOSURE

Limited sharing needed to run ScrollScripture

We use service providers that process information on our behalf, including:

Amazon Web Services for hosting, databases, authentication, logs, and Amazon SNS.
Apple for App Store distribution and Apple Push Notification service delivery.
Google Firebase and Google Analytics for aggregate product analytics.
API.Bible for licensed Scripture delivery and attribution.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the service, investigate abuse, or complete a business transition with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6 · YOUR CHOICES

You remain in control

Read without creating a ScrollScripture account.
Allow, deny, or later change notification access in iOS Settings.
Use browser privacy controls to restrict cookies or site storage.
Sign out to remove active account credentials from the app or browser.
Permanently delete your account in the iOS app or follow the instructions on our account deletion page.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account.

7 · RETENTION AND DELETION

We keep information only as needed

Account and interaction information is retained while your account is active and removed when you complete in-app account deletion, subject to limited backups, security records, legal obligations, and fraud-prevention needs. Disabled notification registrations may be retained long enough to prevent unwanted delivery and safely support re-registration. Analytics and technical logs follow the configured retention periods of our service providers. Support messages are retained as needed to resolve and document the request.

8 · SECURITY AND INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING

Reasonable safeguards

ScrollScripture uses encrypted network connections, managed authentication, access controls, and restricted cloud services. No online system is perfectly secure. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.

9 · CHILDREN

A general-audience Scripture experience

ScrollScripture is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

10 · CHANGES AND CONTACT

Questions about privacy
